Pakistani and Indian communities in crisis
Comunidades Paquistanies e Indius en crisis
In spite of much common cultural heritage, Pakistani and Indian
communities have been in a constant state of conflict, tension, and
cold, proxy and intermittent hot wars since their inception. They are
spending their huge resources on an arms race including nuclear
proliferation. The two communities, both with huge populations, are
allocating meager resources for education, health, and economic and
social development. Consequently, increasing poverty, illiteracy,
hunger, disease, unemployment, crime, violence, human rights
violations, and degrading economic and social conditions have
resulted in a "crisis" situation for common man in both communities.
This has posed a great challenge for social scientists, policy makers
and global human conscience. Some possible solutions are discussed
for appropriate development and the alleviation of human sufferings
in these communities.
